URGENT: Senate Deadline Approaches!
Contact your state senator: Vote YES on HB182 & HB399!
The Louisiana Senate has adopted rules over the years that really make me scratch my head…
For example, if house bills currently on the “3rd Reading and Final Passage” list have not received a vote by 6:00 pm today, they are required to go back to the House for a 2/3 vote, then must go back to the Senate, and pray for a vote before the end of session on Thursday. Why? Your guess is as good as mine.
Two important bills that are currently sitting on that list include HB182 & HB399! Let’s give these bills a little shove across the finish line today with a barrage of emails to our state senators!
Let’s start with HB182…
There is absolutely no reason covid shots should be required for school attendance in any Louisiana school, and yet there are at least 86 New Orleans City Schools still requiring it for kids as young as FIVE! As we argued in Senate Ed last week, requiring this shot violates state law and offers no benefit while carrying tremendous risk to school age kids. Please send a message to your state senator to get this bill passed TODAY before the ridiculous 6:00 pm deadline!
Next is HB399…
Legislation similar to HB399 got left on the “3rd Reading and Final Passage” list last year and never received a final vote in the Senate - let’s not let that happen AGAIN!!
Withholding exemption information is an egregious act of medical coercion, especially for those who may not have the resources or access to seek accurate information regarding the law. Even today, parents are being denied the totality of the law. Contact your state senator NOW and make sure they know how important this legislation is!
