It is not a cheap thing, this freedom. Today, we acknowledge the tremendous cost. Tomorrow we go to work once again fighting, without fear of imminent harm, for the freedom those memorialized died for.
A look at the week ahead…
We have THREE bills of interest in Senate committees this week, beginning with Rep Barbara Frieberg’s HB471. This bill should have never made it out of House Health and Welfare but the lack of decorum displayed by another individual in committee helped moved it along. We need to flood the Senate Health and Welfare committee with emails!! The hearing is Wednesday, May 31st at 10:00 am in the Hainkel Rm. Please join us in committee and fill out a red card in opposition to the bill!
Use the convenient link below to share your concerns with the committee members about expanding the number of vaccines available at the pharmacy (all, previously just flu), and lowering the age to seven (previously 17).
On Thursday, we have two bills in Senate Education Committee….
Representative Kathy Edmonston’s HB182 simply removes the option for any school to require covid vaccination. Parents are free to make the choice without any coercive measures imposed by schools. Unbelievably, there are STILL schools in Louisianarequiring COVID-19 vaccination for children as young as FIVE!
Send a message to the members of Senate Education to support HB182:
Next, HB399 by Representative Kathy Edmonston will ensure that with any communication about vaccine requirements, the exemption law will be provided to students and parents, as well. Withholding vaccine exemption information is an egregious act of medical coercion, yet schools do it all the time.
Send a message to the members of Senate Education to support HB399:
HB182 and HB399 will be heard in Senate Education on Thursday, May 31st if you would like to join us to testify or fill out a green card in support! Thank you for taking action on these very important bills today!
Lastly, we need to apply pressure to Senate President Page Cortez…
Rep Gabe Firment’s HB648, a bill to protect minors from “gender affirming care,” has overwhelming support in the legislature, from citizens across the state, and from parents and legislators in surrounding states, but we hear that Senate President Page Cortez does not want Senator Fred Mills to look bad and is willing to sacrifice vulnerable children for Mills’ self esteem.
Contact Senate President Cortez and tell him the only way Senator Mills can recover from this incredible error in judgement (ya, that’s what we’ll call it), is for Mills to discharge HB648 from the committee himself. One way or another HB648 MUST be heard and passed on the Senate floor.
Call Senate President Page Cortez TODAY! (225) 342-9990
Thank you, thank you for taking action TODAY on these important pieces of legislation!
