SHOW UP At the Capitol on Tuesday, May 21st for HB467, the Raw Milk Bill!🇺🇸
“Keep coming back and supporting Representative Coates all the way.”
What is raw milk but 100% natural, unprocessed, uncooked, fresh milk — much like other foods we buy unprocessed like eggs, meat, fish, crawfish, fruits, vegetables. When states like Texas and Georgia do not prevent dairy farmers from selling their product directly to the consumer, why would Louisiana? When Louisianans make the trek to neighboring states to purchase raw, unprocessed milk, why would the Louisiana Legislature be opposed to keeping those taxed dollars at home?
And yet when Rep Kim Coates’ HB467, the raw milk bill, arrives in the Senate Agriculture Committee on Tuesday, May 21st, we hear it is dead on arrival.
That’s where YOU come in!
Please join us and SHOW UP at the Capitol in support of HB467 when it is heard in Senate Agriculture Committee on Tuesday, May 21st, at 9:00 am in Room C.
The hearing is scheduled to begin at 9:00 am so plan on arriving early to find parking and to get through security. When you arrive in Room C, fill out a green card like the one below in support of HB467. These cards can be found on the table at the front of the room and given to the sergeant at arms when completed.
On April 25th, Representative Danny McCormick gave a dire warning to the supportive audience during the House Agriculture Committee hearing for HB467, Rep Coates’ raw milk bill.
“Don’t think it’s going to be easy. Lot of people in this business don’t like change.”
“Keep coming back and supporting Representative Coates all the way.”
That’s what we need to do this Tuesday, May 21st! SHOW UP and support Rep Coates in this process!

In other legislative news, we are still awaiting votes on three bills on the senate floor. If you haven’t yet, contact your state senator and ask for a YES vote on these bills.
HB46 by Rep Kathy Edmonston prohibits ALL Louisiana schools from requiring covid vaccination for school attendance. This bill passed through Senate Education Committee last week and will receive a Senate floor vote SOON!
Contact your senator and ask them to vote YES on HB46!
HB47 by Rep Edmonston is still scheduled to receive a vote on the Senate floor soon! This bill would simply require ALL schools to inform parents and students of the existing vaccine exemption law - a law that has been in place for decades!
Send a message to your state senator and ask them to vote for HB47!
HB357 by Rep Amedee would prevent a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) from being a legal bank deposit account in Louisiana. HB357 is scheduled to receive a Senate floor soon!
Send a message to your state senator and ask them to vote for HB357!
HB908 by Rep Beryl Amedee will prevent schools from discriminating against students who have submitted an exemption for vaccination requirements. As we noted in a previous article, then Attorney General Jeff Landry weighed in on this issue in November 2021, writing a memorandum on RS 17:170 in which he stated:
“While La. R.S. 17:170 does not prohibit schools from imposing other safety measures that they believe to be necessary to preserve the health of students, faculty, and staff, and no statute or regulation specifically authorizes masking and testing protocols, any such additional safety measures should be applied in a nondiscriminatory and non-punitive fashion. As Judge Terry Doughty with the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana held recently, policies that are so punitive that they defeat the right itself will not withstand scrutiny.”
Contact your state senator NOW and ask them to vote YES on HB908!
