LA Surgeon General Dr. Ralph Abraham Makes Bold Statement About Pandemic Response: "When in doubt, choose freedom."
And we couldn't agree more.
On September 26th, day two of the long-awaited hearing to review the state’s response to covid, a result of Representative Chuck Owen’s HR133, Louisiana’s newly appointed Surgeon General, Dr. Ralph Abraham, testified before the Louisiana House Select Committee on Homeland Security. After four years of successfully treating approximately 15,000 covid patients, Dr. Abraham pulls no punches in castigating the previous administration’s covid policies:
“It’s been my observation that nearly every intervention attempted by the government has been ineffective, counterproductive, and antithetical to the core principles of a free society. Mask mandates, lockdowns, forced closures of churches, schools, and businesses, coerced vaccinations, and suppression or intimidation of those who resisted are just a few examples of policies endorsed by the previous administration, which I opposed then and still oppose now, not only because the policies were practically ineffective at achieving the stated goals, but primarily because they violate constitutional protections guaranteed to all Americans.”
Dr. Abraham emphasized the importance of the doctor-patient relationship, indicating it has suffered in recent years due to third party interests - pharmaceutical companies, insurance carriers, and government - to the detriment of patient health.
Dr. Abraham acknowledged that trust in doctors and public health has declined significantly and the radical remedy would be to simply “tell the truth.” The push to vaccinate children, a demographic that was never significantly impacted by covid infection, in order to protect the elderly was especially egregious according to Abraham as he calls for a return to the Hippocratic Oath: First, do no harm.
“When in doubt, choose freedom,” was perhaps the most profound statement in Abraham’s address to the committee and even more so because it was offered with such humility when he noted he borrowed it from the newly appointed Deputy Surgeon General, Dr. Wyche Coleman, who sat at the table with him. Considering the arrogance and complete incompetence of the leadership at the Louisiana Department of Health under John Bel Edwards, Dr. Abraham’s comments were incredibly refreshing. Watch a few minutes of Dr. Abraham’s presentation in the clip below.
Representative Alonzo Knox, the only Democrat committee member present during the two-day hearing, offered an interesting perspective throughout. Based on his comments regarding the information presented by Dr. Abraham and presenters from the previous day, he expected less fact-based and unsupported claims to be made by “whacky people,” but he was instead “enlightened” by the presentations. Prompted by Rep. Knox to elaborate on his opening statement, Dr. Abraham admits that he believes the covid policies adopted by the state of Louisiana may have actually increased mortality. Full comments in the clip below.
On day one of the hearings, vaccine litigation expert Aaron Siri correlated the government’s traditionally unethical vaccine approval process to the extremely negligent approval of the covid vaccines. Siri noted the government’s intentionally deceptive messaging on autism and the oft-repeated, never substantiated message that “vaccines do not cause autism” as the litmus test. If autism is the “most studied” adverse event associated with vaccines and it has actually never been studied, what else is the government keeping from the American public? So we were thrilled when Rep. Danny McCormick took the opportunity on day two while Dr. Abraham was before the committee to ask if the state could perform its own study to determine if early childhood vaccines and autism are connected. We were even more thrilled with Dr. Abraham’s willingness to consider the question without ridiculing it. As Dr. Coleman wisely suggested, open source the state’s data and let the debate happen. Listen below.
There were several agencies invited to present on day two of the hearing including the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners, the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, the Louisiana Hospital Association, and the Louisiana Nursing Home Association. The entire hearing can be viewed online, but we wanted to again spotlight a comment by Rep. Knox, this time to the Louisiana Hospital Association Vice President Greg Waddell. Mr. Waddell noted that Louisiana is short staffed approximately 5,000 healthcare workers, but fails to acknowledge how vaccine mandates in employment and healthcare education have played a role in decimating the state’s healthcare workforce. Rep. Knox references a hospital’s 25 page vaccine religious exemption application as overly burdensome if someone does not want a vaccine “injected into their body for a sincere held reason.” Rep. Knox, again the only Democrat to be present for the two-day hearing, makes a compelling argument for bodily autonomy: “…put barriers at bay so we don’t try to make it a challenge for individuals to assert what they want and don’t want to go inside their bodies.” That would definitely help with the healthcare staffing shortage. Watch the exchange below.
We will be highlighting more speakers from the hearing in future articles, but in the meantime it can be viewed in its entirety online HERE. Also to come, HFL’s comments on the press’s meltdown over the hearing. It is just as ridiculous as ever.
