HB648 Leave the Kids Alone Is Resurrected!
It's been reassigned to a new committee, hearing is TOMORROW, June 2nd!
If you recall, HB648 bans gender affirming care in minors, but it got stuck in the Senate Health & Welfare Committee when Chairman Fred Mills (a “Republican”) cast his tie breaking vote and sided with the democrats. But with the onslaught of public pressure, we were able to get the bill reassigned to a different committee. This was a MONUMENTAL feat! By having it reassigned, it in essence “resurrected” the bill, bringing it up for a committee vote and if it passes out of committee, to the Senate floor it goes!
We’re having an impact, ya’ll! But it’s not over!
We need you to email the committee members RIGHT NOW and ask them to VOTE YES on HB648.

Subject line: VOTE YES on HB648
Body (feel free to add a personal message or use ours):
Because no one in Louisiana has a right to harm any child, I urge you to support HB648 by Rep. Gabe Firment. Subjecting minors to experimental “treatments”, hormone “therapy”, procedures, and surgeries sets them up to become lifelong customers of the pharmaceutical industry, with risks of stroke, heart attack, blood clots, permanent sterilization, cancer, and who knows what else. Love does not affirm lies. Be on the right side of history and protect minors. Vote YES on HB648.
If you can make it to the Capitol tomorrow please do! But don’t worry about testifying, simply submit a green card in support. Our hope is to get this done as quickly as possible.
Be sure to share this post to increase the reach and impact!
Thanks for including a link to watch the hearing, I have never seen how this works over there in Baton Rouge. It was very interesting. I especially like when they said how many phone calls and emails they received about HB6848. Phone calls in support totaled around 500, opposed totaled around 300.
