Edwards Vetoed HB54.

The only medical mandate protection passed by the Louisiana legislature has been vetoed.

Governor John Bel Edwards vetoed Rep Bagley’s HB54, a bill prohibiting discrimination by government entities based on covid vaccination status. JBE’s stated reason for the veto:

“The bill is unnecessary and perpetuates the false narrative that the residents of Louisiana face vaccine mandates to access government services or attend schools. This is not the case. The bill also seeks to undermine public confidence in vaccines, which are safe, effective, and essential to public health. For these reasons, I have vetoed the bill.”

Not only is this a complete falsehood, as Louisiana colleges and universities implemented vaccine passports for game attendance, illegal and discriminatory vaccination status policies in the classroom, AND the city of New Orleans implemented a vaccine passport for children as young as FIVE, there is NOTHING to stop these government entities from doing it again.  

Edwards’ obsession with “public confidence in vaccines, which are safe, effective, and essential to public health” takes priority over your freedoms. 

Nothing could undermine public confidence in vaccination more than the coercive measures implemented over the last year and a half, including those mentioned above, as well as, the imposition of government vaccine mandates on private businesses and their employees, and the forced vaccination of our military personnel and healthcare workers. 

Edwards has failed to recognize that coercion — especially by a government entity — has no place in medicine and vetoing HB54 is evidence that he sees no wrong in these mandates and is willing to let them happen again. 

Just like a virus is gonna virus, a tyrant is gonna tyrant. That is until everyone has had it and is immune to the fear and manipulation. If and when the restrictions are implemented again, it will take massive resistance on the part of the public — much like Pastor Tony Spell who was recently vindicated by the Louisiana Supreme Court.
