A quick update on last week before we move to this week’s Calls to Action!
Between the weather and the other bills in committees, it’s been a wild week. Here’s the latest on the important health freedom bills that were in committee last week:
HB555 by Rep Beryl Amedee - voluntarily deferred. The weather kept people away from the committee this week, but we need people to show up for this legislation next time!! (See the video of Dr Bocchini speaking on THIS bill.)
HB377 by Rep Owen - the committee ran long, this bill will be heard this week.
HB150 by Rep Kim Coates - voluntarily deferred til next week.
HB112 by Rep Edmonston - will not be running this bill at this time.
HB386 by Rep Crews - voluntarily deferred. Bankers on the Commerce Committee are threatened by this legislation.
Now for this week’s Calls to Action. . .
Representative Kim Coates’ HB608, the Louisiana Atmospheric Protection Act, aims to protect the state’s airspace, environment, and public health from harmful atmospheric experimentation and pollution. It defines and prohibits various forms of geoengineering and weather modification, including cloud-seeding, solar radiation modification, stratospheric aerosol injection, and electromagnetic pollution.
This legislation reflects growing concern over unregulated atmospheric interventions and asserts Louisiana’s state sovereignty over its airspace, infrastructure, and environmental safety.
The bill mandates hard-wired internet infrastructure to protect public health, privacy, and critical systems, and creates a special fund to support enforcement and atmospheric safety. This legislation is incredibly forward-thinking and encompasses safeguards that are critically needed.
HB608 will be in the House Committee on Natural Resources and Environment on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in Committee Room 4 @ 9:00 a.m. Please attend if possible and submit a green card in support.
Send a message to the Natural Resources Committee and your state representative and ask them to vote YES on Rep. Coates' HB608!
SB 117 – Take Action to Support Real Food in Schools!
Senator Blake Miguez’s SB117 ensures our children receive real, nourishing food—not ultra-processed, chemical-laden products—in school meals. This bill prioritizes whole foods, limits artificial additives, and empowers schools to promote healthy eating habits. It’s a major step toward improving student health and academic performance.
SB117 will be in the House Committee on Education, Wednesday, May 14, 2025, Committee Room 1 @ 9:30 a.m. Please attend if possible and submit a green card in support.
Tell your state representative and the House Education Committee: Our kids deserve better food. Vote YES on SB 117!
Representative Chuck Owen’s HB 377—Right to Refuse Emergency Use Authorization Drugs Act—ensures that individuals have the right to refuse any drug, vaccine, test, or device that is authorized under the FDA’s Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) process, and establishes informed consent procedures before such products are administered.
HB377 is in the House Health and Welfare Committee on Wednesday, May 7th, Committee Room 5 @ 9:30 a.m. Please attend if possible and submit a green card in support.
Send a message to members of the House Health and Welfare Committee and your state representative to support HB377, the Right to Refuse Emergency Use Authorization Drugs Act.
Representative Emily Chenevert’s HB400 affirms that parents have the right to give informed consent for all medical and mental health services provided to their minor children. This includes medical, surgical, dental, pharmacy, and counseling services, whether provided in schools, clinics, or hospitals. The bill allows exceptions only for emergencies, emancipated minors, pregnant minors seeking care related to pregnancy (excluding abortion), and minors in the military.
It also ensures parents have access to their child’s medical records and protects providers from liability when acting under parental authorization, except in cases of negligence. HB400 is a vital step to uphold parental authority and transparency in healthcare.
HB400 will be in the House Health and Welfare Committee on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in Committee Room 5 @ 9:00 a.m. Please attend if possible and submit a green card in support.
Send a message to your state representatives and the health and welfare committee today and urge them to vote YES on HB 400 to protect families and informed consent in Louisiana!
Our advocacy is only possible with your help! THANK YOU!!
