Bottlenecked: Important Bills Left Hanging
Plus the final report on the state's response to covid will be presented tomorrow!
Before we get to the legislative update, we want to make you aware of a House Select Committee on Homeland Security hearing tomorrow morning to review the final “report of the committee concerning state government actions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to be issued in accordance with House Resolution No. 133 of the 2024 Regular Session.”
You will be able to watch the hearing at the legis.la.gov homepage.
Now for the legislative update. . .
We had six bills on the agenda this week, but only two had their day in committee. Next week will be another busy, busy week at the Capitol!
The great news: the bills that had a hearing passed!
On Tuesday, Senator Fesi’s SB46 passed favorably out of House Natural Resources and has only one more legislative hurdle: a House floor vote. You can still contact your state representative and ask for a YES vote on SB46!
Today, Wednesday, May 21st, Senator McMath’s SB14 passed favorably out of House Health and Welfare! Next stop: House floor vote!
Contact your state representative and ask them to vote YES on SB14!
Next week, we can expect to see at least four bills in committee, including:
HB419 by Rep. Beryl Amedee makes it a crime to intentionally expose someone to a self-spreading, engineered pathogen without their consent. This bill draws a clear line against the abuse of biotechnology and upholds the fundamental right to informed consent.
HB419 will be in Committee on Administration of Criminal Justice on Wednesday, May 28 in Committee Room 6 @ 10:00 a.m.
📢 Take action now!
Email your legislators and the committee to urge them to vote YES on HB419. Let’s make it clear: bioattacks and unauthorized exposure have no place in Louisiana.
Representatives McCormick and Amedee’s HB555 is the Louisiana Medical Freedom Act—a landmark bill that ensures informed consent, the right to refuse medical treatment, and protection from discrimination based on medical choices.
✅ No one should lose a job, benefit, or service because they made a personal medical decision.
✅ This bill guarantees that consent is voluntary, informed, and respected—always.
HB555 will be in Committee on Health and Welfare on Tuesday or Wednesday next week in Committee Room 5 @ 9:30 a.m. Please plan to attend to submit a green card in support.
Contact the committee and your state representative and demand they vote YES on HB555 to protect medical freedom in Louisiana.
Senators Fesi and McMath’s SB2 puts an end to the outdated and unsafe practice of adding fluoride to public drinking water without informed consent.
🔹 Fluoride is a drug—not a nutrient.
🔹 It’s added to water without dosage control, informed consent, or FDA approval.
🔹 SB2 restores local control and the right to choose what goes into our bodies.
SB2 will be in the Committee on Health and Welfare on Tuesday or Wednesday next week in Committee Room 5 @ 9:30 a.m. Please plan to attend to submit a green card in support.
Contact the committee and your state representative and urge them to vote YES on SB2 to protect health, water safety, and personal choice in Louisiana.
Senator Fesi’s SB19 allows ivermectin to be sold over the counter in Louisiana—just like in other states. This safe, FDA-approved medication has been used for decades to treat a variety of conditions and should never have been restricted.
🔹 Trusted by doctors worldwide
🔹 Winner of the Nobel Prize in Medicine
🔹 Proven track record of safety and effectiveness
SB19 will be in Committee on Health and Welfare on Tuesday or Wednesday in Committee Room 5 @ 9:30 a.m. Please plan to attend to submit a green card in support.
Contact the committee and your state representative and urge them to vote YES on SB19 to make ivermectin available without a prescription in Louisiana.
