A HUGE Thank You for Showing Up to Support Rep Kim Coates and HB467!🇺🇸
Plus, a huge legislative update.
First of all. . .
Many thanks to all those who showed up to support Rep Kim Coates’ HB467, the raw milk bill!
YOU DID IT!!
We had been hearing for weeks that this bill would not pass the Senate Ag committee —it was dead on arrival — but with almost 800 emails to the committee, the excellent testimony from experts, and the huge crowd in support, YOU did it!! The bill passed favorably out of committee with NO opposition!
Next stop: the Senate floor!
Send your state senator a message and ask them to support local dairy farmers and the sale of 100% natural, unprocessed, uncooked, fresh milk!
In case you missed it, we wanted to share the testimony of Mr Alfie Oakes, owner of Seed to Table, described by our friends in Florida as the best grocery store in America. Mr Oakes’ testimony was at the request of Congressman Clay Higgins who supports local farmers, local industry, and liberty.
Now for more good news from Tuesday, May 21st. . .
Rep Beryl Amedee’s HB357, which will prevent a Central Bank Digital Currency from being established in Louisiana as a legal depository account, finally passed the Senate — again! This legislation was vetoed last year by Edwards, but will be signed into law by Governor Jeff Landry very soon!
Also in committee on Tuesday, HR222 by Rep Kathy Edmonston passed House Health and Welfare. This resolution requests LDH to investigate and report on several factors affecting children and families with autism, including the prevalence per region and demographic, and "the fiscal impact of ASD on the individuals affected by the disease and how it impacts the state's healthcare and education systems."
Now for the bad news. . . .
Rep Owen’s HR214, a resolution to urge and request AG Liz Murrill to investigate whether Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson broke any federal or state laws when bringing their covid vaccines to market, was killed in House Health and Welfare. We are still in shock that members of the legislature are protecting this industry, but here we are.
More thoughts on this to follow.
On the agenda for today, Wednesday, May 22nd. . .
Rep Chuck Owen once again goes to bat for families in Louisiana to strengthen the No Patient Left Alone Act of 2023 and enact the Don Scoggins Law this year to ensure that families have access to a designated caregiver while in the care of a healthcare or residential facility.
HB976 will be heard in Senate Health and Welfare on Wednesday, May 22nd! Submit a statement of support and ask the committee to vote YES on HB976!
During covid, the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) produced countless advertising and promotional materials for masks and covid vaccines that were not in compliance with FDA requirements. The issue was so concerning that HFL filed a formal complaint with the FDA and detailed the violations in the substack article you can find HERE.
Rep Beth Billings has filed HB815 which would require LDH to follow FDA rules and regulations when promoting or advertising drugs and pharmaceuticals.
Email a statement of support to the committee today and ask them to require truth in advertising from LDH!
